The Do Tai Chi Syllabus
ongoing project - online 'classes' for tai chi

Segment 1:
Classic Chi Kung/Traditional Chinese Medicine Exercises to encourage the development and accumulation of Chi through the establishment of correct posture and healthy breathing techniques.

The Syllabus goes first through a five week (5hr.) Foundation course in Chi Kung which then seamlessly carries on into the Yang Long Form, posture by posture with related talks. Based upon lesson plans for personal tuition here in my home dojo, each 'session' is designed to be the equivalent of an hour's class.

module 1: | Attention to Preparation | Opening the Grand Terminus |
module 2: | The Yin Yang | Diaphragmatic Breathing | Tai Chi Breath |

module 1: | Circle Breath | The Three Gates |
module 2: | Silken Thread | Bubbling Spring |

module 1: | 1st Cervical or 'Atlas' Vertebrae |
module 2: | Head Nodding Exercises |

single module: | Embracing the Tree | Internal/External | Open Wide | Slide Down Tree to Conclusion |

single module: | Connecting Heaven and Earth | Embracing the Tree | Tree/Heaven/Earth Connected |

My recommendation is that all exercises prescribed within a whole session (how ever many modules) be practiced for at least half an hour a day every day for week. With this amount of practice you should then be ready to move on to the next session. Most Sessions are divided into Modules i.e. bite-sized chunks or elements. Some Modules include supplementary articles which relate, sometimes specifically and sometimes tentativly to the theme of the session/lesson.

Supplements/links:
A in session 1 module 1: | Belly, Hara or lower Dan Tien | Samadhi |
B in session 1 module 2: | Abdominal/Diaphragmatic Breathing | Thoracic Diaphragm |
C in session 1 module 2: | Tai Chi Chuan | Pushing Hands | Kung Fu |
